Band 8a Clinical Psychologist – Solar (Core CAMHS)

The Solar team is part of Birmingham and Solihull NHS Foundation Trust. We provide specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services for 0-19 year olds in Solihull. We are a service that has embraced the transformational change as part of the CYP IAPT programme and have worked collaboratively with our local training providers to embed the model across the service. We are now continuing this journey towards achieving the Future in Mind aspirations. The Solar service has also been rated as ‘Good’ overall in a recent CQC inspection (March 2018).

Solar offers a stepped approach to care and our team consists of a wide range of professional groupings. With generous supervision arrangements including both peer/individual and support from the multi-disciplinary team, we work closely together offering high levels of experience and expertise, within a friendly and professional atmosphere. Opportunities for continuing professional development are also available to the team.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated professional to join our team in Solar. We are recruiting a full time (37.5 hours, 1.0 wte) Band 8a Clinical Psychologist who will provide a specialist service to children and young people who are experiencing moderate/severe mental health difficulties. Across the role, the post holder will also provide clinical supervision to trainee clinical psychologists on placement and therefore experience of delivering supervision is desirable.

Team working and psychological contributions are highly valued within Solar and the post holder will work as part of wider multi-disciplinary team. There is an expectation that, as part of professional development, post holders contribute to areas of service development. The post will be shared across two sites in North and South Solihull to ensure access based at Bishop Wilson Clinic at Chelmsley Wood and at the Freshfields Clinic in Knowle.

Development opportunities are available to the post holder to lead on new opportunities (e.g. trauma pathway lead) and training that may accompany this.

Applications would also be welcomed from Band 7 clinical psychologists who are looking for a development opportunity and part-time working will also be considered.
