Senior Lecturer in Architectural and Digital Design

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Senior Lecturer in Architectural and Digital Design. The University of Wolverhampton is making a major strategic investment of £100M to establish a dedicated campus with new facilities for the School of Architecture and Built Environment on a 12 acre city centre brownfield regeneration site as part of the City of Wolverhampton canal-side redevelopment.

The School of Architecture and Built Environment is one of five Schools forming the Faculty of Science and Engineering and is based in the city centre of Wolverhampton. With excellent industrial links active research programmes and professionally accredited courses the School is committed to further growing its existing research and consultancy provision. The Architectural subject area is experiencing rapid growth and plans are in place to develop new undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

You will be expected to further develop the curricula in architectural technology and digital design on the undergraduate and post graduate courses. Due to the highly student-focussed nature of our activities you will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and to cooperate wholeheartedly with other staff in the School in their wide-ranging activities. The generation of research outputs is expected as well as contributing to recruitment marketing and business activities within the School.

The School of Architecture and the Built Environment is an active and thriving subject area within the Faculty with good industrial links active research outputs and professionally accredited programmes delivered in the UK and overseas. The School is committed to growing its academic provision which centres on architecture, construction, the environment and civil engineering. This post is a reflection of that growth agenda. The post has four key performance areas; teaching, research, new course development and external income activities. Teaching will involve lecturing architectural related modules on the undergraduate and post graduate courses. Due to the highly student-focussed nature of our activities you will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and to cooperate wholeheartedly with other staff in the School in their wide-ranging activities. The generation of research outputs is expected to build upon the successes the School has had in previous research submissions and activities as well as contributing to recruitment marketing transnational education and business activities within the School.

You must have a Doctorate in a relevant subject and hold, or be close to obtaining, Chartered membership of a relevant body such as Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT). The University of Wolverhampton operates a widening participation policy and as such you should be able to demonstrate that you can develop and maintain empathy and a good rapport with students. A proven familiarity with recent developments in architectural technology and digital architectural techniques as well as the ability to work flexibly in a team environment are essential qualities. A well-established research record would be a distinct advantage as would experience of new course development as the School implements its expansion plans
