Inspector of Ancient Monuments

Job description          

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Development Advice team in the East as an Inspector of Ancient Monuments. We are looking for someone who is keen to develop their experience and who brings a creative approach and enthusiasm to the role. Through using this and applying our ethos of Constructive Conservation you will manage change to some of the most significant archaeology across this diverse region.

As our new Inspector of Ancient Monuments, you will deliver Historic England`s advice in response to pre-application and formal consultations across the diverse and fascinating East Region. At its heart this post involves advising on scheduled monument consent applications, planning applications and management advice in relation to places of archaeological interest.

To be successful in this role, you will be used to taking on responsibility for an extensive and varied case load and working in close consultation with colleagues of various professionalisms to achieve the overall objectives of the organisation. We strive to provide exemplary customer service to the wide range of people and organisations that we deal with, therefore, you will be able to communicate appropriately and deliver a high level of expertise in an accessible manner.
