** This is a developmental position. Target grade is NF-II. If no one is qualified at the Target Level, this position will be filled at the NF-I grade level as a developmental with promotion potential to the NF-II level. After 3 months in the developmental position, training has been completed and incumbent can successfully perform at the target grade level, he or she will be non-competitively promoted to the NF-II level. If selected for the developmental level the starting pay is $7.50 per hour.**
Duties: Assists assigned personnel in all areas of the Arts & Crafts Program. Operates a variety of equipment in assigned area, to include (but not limited to) copiers, computerized engravers, embroidery machines, matt cutters, choppers, heat presses and hand power tools. Responsible for operating the cash register, collects money, makes change and issues receipts. At the end of each shift, closes out the cash register, completes required paperwork and submits entire package to supervisor. Assists customers in placing special orders. Maintains security of all merchandise, equipment and funds assigned. Provides customer service, answers telephone and assists shop users with craft skill development and work procedures. With guidance from the supervisor, provides demonstrations and guidance on crafts. Maintains clean, neat and safe work area. Performs other related duties and assist facility supervisor as requested.
Target Level (NF-II) Qualifications: Must have experience in three (3) or more general Arts & Crafts activities such as, but not limited to; embroidery, computers, woodwork, automotive, stained glass. Must be able to read, write, spell and figure basic math and measurements. Must have a clear speaking voice and be able to deal with the public. Must have experience with a Point of Sale (POS) system.
Development Level (NF-I) Qualifications: Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules and procedures is desirable. Ability to safeguard and handle cash and skill in the use and maintenance of various recreational equipment and facilities are desirable. Must be able to read, write, spell and figure basic math and measurements. Must have a clear speaking voice and be able to deal with public.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Subject to an uncommon work schedule, to include nights, weekends and holidays. Requires continuous standing, walking and stooping. Subject to metal and wood splinters, adhesives, paint fumes, cuts, burns and bruises. Must be physically able to lift and carry items up to and including 50 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
EMPLOYMENT BENEFIT INFORMATION
Regular Employment Category: US NAF employment offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes, in part, annual leave, sick leave, holidays, retirement plan and a 401(k) savings plan. Minimum guaranteed work week hours are 20.
Flexible Employment Category: Flexible employees have work schedules that depend of the needs of the facility. These employees may work a minimum of zero hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week. These positions do not receive benefits as mentioned above.
