Research Associate (Fixed Term)

Job description          

The Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre in the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a full-time Research Associate to work on a research project on Early Learning in Ethiopia. The postholder will be responsible for supporting the research of the project, including both quantitative and qualitative approaches in researching pre-primary education. The postholder will also support the preparation of presentations, drafting of blogs, policy briefs and academic papers. They are expected to work collaboratively with our Ethiopian and international research partners. This includes piloting of research instruments, site visits, and country engagement meetings with research partners and key policy stakeholders. Under the guidance of Professor Pauline Rose, they will also work to ensure the timely production of outputs across the team, keeping track of delivery towards these outputs, and contributing to reporting to the funder. Applicants must hold a PhD in Education, Economics, Development Studies or other relevant discipline. Applicants must have experience in statistical data preparation and analysis, including experience of software packages, with a strong understanding of statistical methods and modelling, and the ability to prepare graphs from this analysis; along with experience in research design, including preparing research instruments, sampling etc. Evidence of strong knowledge of qualitative and mixed research methods is also required, together with evidence of drafting reports and academic publications to a high standard. The postholder will also be expected to demonstrate ability to write blogs and policy briefs and prepare PowerPoint presentations for wider audiences. They will also need to display evidence of a strong interest in, and understanding of the research topic.
