We are seeking a Finance Assistant to join our Finance Department to assist the Head of Finance/ Management Accountant with the maintenance of accurate and up to date financial records of the Charity and its subsidiary. Applicants must have previous accounting experience, be able to work without supervision and be methodical with strong attention to detail and good communication skills. Experience of accounting software, including the use of Sage 200 would be advantageous. Computer literacy (particularly Excel) and the ability to work to targets are essential requirements of the post.

The main purpose of the post of Finance Assistant is to assist the Management Accountant with the maintenance of accurate and up to date financial records of the Charity and the Trading Company.The main purpose of the post of Finance Assistant is to assist the Management Accountant with the maintenance of accurate and up to date financial records of the Charity and the Trading Company.
Key Responsibilities: Processing of payment requests and receipts. Processing of purchase and sales invoices (including grants) using SAGE 200 accounting systems. Checking of periodic supplier statements and maintenance of SAGE 200 purchase and sales ledgers. Day to day recording in the accounting system of all financial entries of the Charity and Trading Company. Maintenance of Sales Ledger and Credit Control thereof. Petty cash for all offices Checking and processing of employee, volunteer and project expense claims and ensuring adherence to Charity’s policies and procedures. Maintenance of Mileage records Weekly reconciliation of Charity and Trading bank accounts to Shop Daily Working Sheets and Recording of Shop income and Reconciliation of Shop bank accounts Filing, photocopying and other general office duties where necessary. Posting Journals (incl. Monthly Retail and Fundraising entries) as required Processing and checking of monthly credit card statements. Maintaining unauthorised invoices list. Organising data storage regularly Performing Fundraising reconciliations with Raiser’s Edge and posting Fundraising journals General Responsibilities: To participate in the CHSS appraisal and support & development process To comply fully with CHSS policies and procedures To attend training sessions and other activities as required To undertake any other duties as directed by your line manager CHSS employees enjoy a variety of organisational benefits including: Company pension scheme, generous holiday allowance, company sick pay, health insurance, employee welfare support and life assurance.
