Head of Facilities Management and Compliance

Job description          

Our client, a charity trust are currently on the search for a Head of Facilities Management and Compliance for their large public building in Halifax, West Yorkshire. The role will include overseeing the Trust’s facilities management, tenant premises management, health and safety, maintenance, security, utilities, compliance, emergency planning and major service and infrastructure contracts. The role also takes a lead in our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint by helping to deliver a reduction in energy consumption and environmental improvements in other areas. Key responsibilities will be:
– Ensuring the building, facilities, staff and contractors meet and comply with all government, legal and appropriate recommended regulations and environmental, health, safety and security standards.
– Overall responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and conservation of a heritage building including mechanical and electrical engineering contracts. Management of the building’s maintenance programme
– Overall responsibility for the Facilities staff team and Compliance Officer.
– Premises licence holder
– Responsible for managing the relationship with tenants regarding premises issues and initial fit outs. Ensuring that tenants maintain and fit out their premises as per their agreements and regulations.
– Contract negotiation and strategic management of services such as cleaning, security, maintenance, waste disposal, and recycling to ensure minimum staff costs without compromising world class customer service and facilities.
– Ensure all key environmental, facilities, security and health and safety policies are present and updated.
– Lead on any building refurbishments in conjunction with appropriate project managers.
– Managing the IT, communication / telecommunication service in the building. The ideal candidate will be and experienced Facilities Manager (TFM) with experience of dealing with public buildings & spaces. You will be qualified in Health & Safety (IOSH or NEBOSH) and will have experience of managing a team, contractors and projects. Due to the nature of the role a Basic DBS check will be required prior to starting the role. Please note that this is initially a temporary position offering the equivalent salary up to £38,000 per annum.
