Cancer Pathway Co-ordinator

Job description          

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join and work with the Cancer Information Team. The team plays a major part in the overall patient experience and journey. You will have excellent communication skills, be effective in working closely with clinical and non-clinical staff and have a flexible and patient centred approach. A minimum 2 years previous administrative experience, ideally experience working with databases and understanding data collection processes.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about cancer services and delivering improved outcomes for our patients. You must be able to organise and prioritise your own workload to meet the requirements of the role, have the ability to function and communicate effectively as part of a team, the ability to exercise sound judgement in relation to problem solving and identifying situations requiring further advice. The role will require a high level of data accuracy, good organisational skills and to be able to prioritise your own workload in order to meet deadlines and ensure high standards of services are maintained.

You will be responsible for the monitoring, reporting and tracking of all patients with either suspected or diagnosed cancer, ensuring the patient’s journey is processed and administered in a timely efficient manner in-line with clinical guidance and the National Cancer Waiting Times Monitoring Dataset Guidance. You will also work as a part of the multidisciplinary teams to ensure the cancer patients experience is central to every stage of the journey. You will be responsible for ensuring the multidisciplinary team meetings (MDT) run efficiently and effectively, are well structured and that all patients are discussed, making sure relevant documentation, results and case notes are available for discussion and outcomes are clearly documented and actioned. Within this role, you will make a major contribution to provide first class experience and outcomes for all of our patients and their families.

The successful candidate will have experience of identifying and rectifying data quality issues and introducing procedures to rectify problem areas, experience of handling highly sensitive information and knowledge of the NHS long term plan, national cancer waiting times dataset and cancer outcomes services dataset. Advanced computer skills are essential.
