This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Midwife to join the Trust Safeguarding team to work alongside the Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children.
An essential part of the role will include:
The role will include assisting the Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children to monitor and maintain robust safeguarding arrangements, safeguarding supervision, training programs and collaborative interagency working. The post holder will contribute to pre-birth assessments and case planning undertaken by multi agencies including Children’s Social Care.
The Specialist Midwife for Safeguarding Children will assist the Named Midwife in ensuring that safeguarding provision continues to develop according to need and is delivered in evidence based, child/family focused manner, in accordance with the National and Statutory Safeguarding agendas.
The post holder will undertake delegated responsibility in the absence of the Named Midwife Safeguarding Children.
To contribute to pre-birth assessment and planning in order to safeguard vulnerable groups and to participate in case conferences as required.
Participate in the Safeguarding training strategy within Maternity and assist with other safeguarding professionals across the Trust, in the delivery of training to meet all educational/training requirements.
In conjunction with the Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children represent Safeguarding and Maternity at Strategy, Initial and Review Child protection Case Conferences, Core Groups, Child In Need Meetings and Legal Court procedures as required.
Plan the management of complex Safeguarding and Specialist needs of women, their partners and children by developing robust Safeguarding Care Plans in conjunction with Named Midwife for Safeguarding Children, partner agencies, ensuring prompt sharing of information to Health Visitors and the multi-agency teams.
An Enhanced DBS, with the checking of the Children's and Adults' Barred Lists is required for this post.
