Pleural Disease Cancer Support Worker

Job description          

We are looking for an exceptional self-motivated person to join our Pleural Team. You will have experience of involvement in cancer care, either in a hospital or community setting, and excellent knowledge of pleural disease services across different tumour types. The successful candidate will also have excellent computer skills, and be able to manage databases and Microsoft office applications. You must be willing to undertake training to achieve core competencies of the role.

The post holder will be an integral part of the Pleural & Lung Cancer Team ensuring robust communication with members of Multidisciplinary team, GPs, patients and relatives. A large part of the role will be to provide administrative and coordination support along the pleural disease pathway with an emphasis on assisting with the implementation of the recovery package.

The post holder will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, be flexible in approach, be able to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high level of professionalism.

You will have excellent communication skills and have an ability to deal with potentially difficult and highly emotive situations in a sensitive manner. In addition the post holder will be able to sign post patients and relatives to relevant sources of support appropriate to their needs.
