Medical Laboratory Assistant

1 x 25.5 hours per week - can include evenings and weekends

1 x 20 hours per week - can include evenings and weekends

We are seeking a highly motivated, efficient and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Specimen Reception at Whiston in the Pathology Department, as this is a medical laboratory there will be exposure to body fluids.

The post holder will operate mainly, but not exclusively, within a small team during assisting Biomedical Scientists deliver an accurate and timely Pathology service.
The main duties of the role include: receipt, sorting and forwarding Pathology samples to the relevant Pathology disciplines; barcoding samples and accurately entering patient data onto Trust IT systems; pre-analytical preparation of samples for analysis and loading samples onto analysers.

The suitable candidate will be organised and flexible with a keen attention to detail and have the ability to deliver in a pressurised environment. Laboratory knowledge and / or experience, good IT skills and proficient and accurate data entry skills would be an advantage. However, full training will be given.
