SEN Teaching Assistant Position: SEN TA Key stage: KS1 Location: East London Start date: October 2019 Pay: £70 – £80 per day depending on experience Athona Education are working with a two-form entry primary school based in Newham, East London. They are looking for a SEN teaching assistant to join them either as soon as possible or after the October half term beak. This is a long-term role that will be ongoing until the end of this academic year. The position will be working with a SEN class split into 2 and led by the Inclusion Manager who plans activities and the TA’s work closely with the Inclusion Manager to support and lead intervention with their key children. The class has a ratio of 1 teaching assistant to 3 children and the pupils are in Year 1 and 2. They are seeking a team member who understands the early stages of curriculum access and who is able to encourage children who need additional support with functioning in school with autism. Most of the children are non-verbal, with some beginning to talk, so staff use a range of methods to help such as “Attention Autism”, PECS and writing symbols.
