Macmillan Assistant Director of Nursing

Job description          

Due to the retirement of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and committed individual to undertake the role of Macmillan Assistant Director of Nursing (Cancer Services). This senior key role, based in the Cancer Directorate within the Surgical and Anaesthetics Division will drive forward the development, delivery and evaluation of a Trust Cancer strategy whilst ensuring sustainable service development and improvements.

With excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to command clinical credibility - the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a high quality, patient centered cancer service across the Trust to meets the needs of our patients. The post requires strong visible leadership for change and service improvement within all areas of the national cancer agenda.

The post holder will work closely with the Trust Clinical and Organisational Leads involved in the delivery of cancer care, Clinical Directors, Business Managers, Specialists Nurses and Patient representatives. The post requires an amount of partnership working with our local commissioners and Macmillan Cancer Support engaging with the local Pennine Lancashire Cancer Improvement Plan, (a joint initiative between Primary and Secondary Care providers, Local Authority and Public Health teams).
