Job description          

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty. Oxfam’s Global Humanitarian Team (GHT) is exploring how to best to position its expertise to work alongside the current Humanitarian response mechanism. This may include exploring options where Oxfam’s expertise can be shared with other organisations through a ‘consultancy’ type arrangement. The Role The purpose is to carry out a feasibility study primarily to establish how, and at what cost Oxfam’s internal systems can provide support to a ‘consulting’ model in a timely and cost-effective way. The key questions that need to be answered and required tasks are mostly grouped under legal, Finance, HR, procurement and the business model. It will also be necessary to scope out the potential size of the ‘market’ for Oxfam services. What we are looking for Oxfam is looking to employ a consultant for a period of 35-days to develop a business plan for the ‘consulting’ model. The key output is a 20- page report with executive summary, clearly stating the next steps and a plan for implementation.
Key Desirables
Candidate applying should have;
Have a good understanding of business, HR and legal issues involved in managing a group of consultants;Experience of undertaking consultancies themselves and/or working in a consultancy environment;Experience of setting up consulting companies in the sector, as well as first-hand knowledge of the processes involved (funding, writing proposals, etc.);Knowledge of the Humanitarian sector;Knowledge of Oxfam policies and practice preferable;
