NHS 111 Call Handler - Flexible Training

NHS 111 Call Handlers take a variety of incoming calls from patients, providing them with an appropriate response to urgent healthcare needs within a timeframe. This could mean booking a GP appointment, advising them to attend an out of hour’s service or even dispatching an ambulance. Working as a NHS 111 Call Handler is challenging, stimulating and highly rewarding, where you’re making a difference to patients who use the service every day. We have got plenty of opportunity for career progression too. The 111 service is a 24/7 service, operating 365 days a year so patients can seek help and advice at any time therefore you need to be prepared to work shifts including evenings, nights and weekends, Bank holidays - including Christmas – are included within the Rota’s. Training Would you like to undertake a study programme to train for this role at your own pace, in your own time?
The Pathways license training is mandatory for the role of 111 Call Handler and we are offering an 4-8 week training programme, where you will undertake virtual classroom sessions from home, E-Learning and have continuous support by our training team.
So what do we need from you? You will have to commit to 6 face-to-face evening classroom sessions throughout this training in one of our call centres Have access to a personal computer with internet speeds of over 2 Mbps Be self-sufficient and committed to learning individually, in order to complete this course
After this training you we must be able to commit to 4, 6 hour shifts over a week period in the evening for Systems training with one of our educators, and commit to an additional two weeks which will require you to be available for 4, 6 hour shifts each week for live call handler coaching. If you are; A good communicator with an excellent telephone manner Passionate about high quality patient care Organised, have a strong attention to detail and have good administration skills Computer literate – including in Microsoft Office – and keen to learn new skills Caring, compassionate and able to remain calm under pressure In return we can offer; Up to 41 Days Annual leave a year depending on Pervious NHS Service (including bank holidays) Training and support from our dedicated in house education team. A nationally recognised qualification in NHS Pathways Licence Access to continual professional development and opportunities within SCAS and the NHS Occupational Health support along with an Employee Assistance Programme. Not only do we offer an excellent basic salary of £18,813 - £20,795 pro rata you will also receive the following unsocial hour’s allowance: All time Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any week day after 8pm and before 6am Time plus 37%.
