Commissioning Officer - Children in Care Location: Aylesbury Vale Ref: FS10777 Closing date: 16th October 2019 Contract type: Permanent Working hours: Full Time Salary: £35,249 - £37,188 Overview As Commissioning Officers in the Children in Care team. we aim to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people by commissioning an effective range of services for children, young people, and their families. We also ensure that any commissioned services are effectively monitored and contract managed. About Us Significant progress has been made to improve our Children’s Services in Buckinghamshire. A new, permanent Senior Management Team arrived in April 2018 and is making the right changes to ensure we improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people across the County. OFSTED said during their last monitoring visit that ‘The senior leadership team has a sound understanding of the improvements that are needed in children’s services and is steadfastly determined to improve the quality of services for children’ Read the Ofsted Monitoring Visit feedback letter https://files.api.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50085255 About the role The post holder should have an understanding of Children's Social Care, knowledge of the commissioning cycle, which includes procurement and performance management and ability to analyse if the service is value for money and delivers on quality. The purpose of this role is: To ensure that commissioned services are effectively monitored and contract managed. To achieve positive outcomes for children and young people by commissioning an effective range of services for children, young people, and their families To commission services required based on evidenced need To ensure that commissioned activity is evidence-based and outcome focussed, and procured in line with Council policies To ensure that, wherever possible, commissioning activity is joint with partner agencies To ensure that the services provided are in line with statutory requirement, local need and of a suitable standard About you You will: Have Relevant professional qualifications or demonstrate relevant experience of children and young people's services Analyse problems, devise solutions and make recommendations for actions Communicate verbally and in writing, ideas, decisions and information to all stakeholders Write clear and concise reports, agreements and specifications Be able to use IT systems to develop and monitor information Negotiate of difficult situations Manage challenging situations Be able to supervise staff Be able to travel to meetings and meet providers across Buckinghamshire and nationwide Other Information If you have any questions regarding the roles, please email resourcing@buckscc.gov.uk You will be required to apply for a DBS at an enhanced level.
