You will have the responsibility for carrying out research focused on understanding the role of chromatin in epigenetic memory at centromeres and at active genes. Specifically, you will participate in a project to study chromatin inheritance focussing on the histone variant CENP-A at centromeres and determine the cell cycle control mechanisms in stable transmission of centromeric chromatin. Furthermore, the project aims to dissect the chromatin composition and structure of active genes whose activity is epigenetically propagated. Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil, in a relevant area and have relevant experience in the area of chromatin biology. You will have extensive experience in the area of centromere biology in a yeast system, analysis of chromatin dynamics, ChIP-sequencing and single cell sequencing, together with extensive experience in protein immunoprecipitation and quantitative mass spectrometry. You will have the ability to manage your own academic research and associated activities and have excellent communication skills to include the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results and represent the research group at meetings. This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 1 year in the first instance and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.
