GPC Operational Shift Co-ordinator

About the service: Sheffield GP Collaborative is a centre of excellence supporting the Primary Care out of hour’s provision of urgent primary care for the population of Sheffield. The unit has a combination of GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Health Care assistants and administration team working together, providing high quality care within a supported friendly, modern, well equipped environment. The GP Collaborative (GPC) is based at the Northern General Hospital site within the new Helipad building co located near the Emergency Department. Referrals to the GPC are triaged by a clinician, if further clinical assessment is required patients will be advised to attend the GPC for a face to face clinical assessment or where indicated seen by a clinician at home for assessment and possible treatment. We work closely with the Emergency Department as well as other community services to ensure patients’ urgent primary care needs are met out of hours. Patients attending ED with health needs that are deemed urgent primary care are referred to the GPC throughout the 24 hour period, where they are seen by a clinician as required. In order to deliver our ambitions, exciting opportunities have arisen for the new position of 4 GP Collaborative Operational Shift Co-ordinators to support the administration and clinical team to provide the day to day operational supervision of the GPC Collaborative. GPC operating hours: 24 hours per day 365 days of the year including Bank Holidays. You will join a rota that will include daytime, evenings, overnights and weekends. About the Role: This is a new and exciting opportunity following a staffing restructure within the GP Collaborative. The Operational Shift Co-ordinator will work with the clinicians and administration team, providing day to day operational management support to the control room team, call handlers, drivers and the clinicians to ensure the service delivers the urgent primary care needs to the population of Sheffield. The operational shift co-ordinators will work independently as shift leaders but with support from each other and the rest of the management team within GPC. The operational shift Co-ordinator will be responsible for the operational delivery of a range of functions and tasks to ensure the GP Collaborative delivers an efficient and effective service at all times. You will have line management responsibility for a number of staff, ensuring HR policies and procedures are followed. About you: We are looking to welcome enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated people to join our team. Applicants should have extensive administrative experience working in a busy environment either in the NHS or other similar organisation, being IT proficient in a variety of software systems and data bases. Experience and knowledge of staff management, the co-ordinating role as well as customer care services including telephone experience are all essential.
